Mozilla's Thunderbird app for Android is here! 🔥

I’ve been trying to get away from smartphones altogether, but if I do go back, it would probably be an Unplugged or GrapheneOS for what’s availabe at the moment. Let’s hope Tesla builds a smartphone privacy focused.

+1 for Graphene. I’m migrating email to proton. So far I’m happy but sometimes a bit challenging.

Not hosting your own mail server anymore?

Difficult, not to say impossible, to do this on a domestic network…

Ah, so you are having trouble with static ip/ptr/bandwidth?

Only issue is PTR… Big enough of an issue though

You know I can help you with that!

One option is to use me (Terra Data Centers) as a relay inbound/outbound only to your mail server. You could use a VPN or dynamic DNS on your side. Self Host!

I am already self-hosting everything I was hosting before, using DDNS ofc, except for mail, mainly because of the PTR… Everything is automated in case IP changes and things like that, but without PTR, self-hosted mail was a no-go…

I’m not sure how the relay option works, but if we could take a look that would be nice

Unless you have a static/ptr and ip block labled business it will be difficult to run a mail server. With a relay, you would run something like https://docs.postalserver.io/ and send/receive from an ip at TDC which transports mail to your your mail server/mailcow. All your clients connect to your mailcow.

Hosting your own mail server will reduce your spam, increase your security and privacy. You should also be using OpenPGP for encrypted mail for people that use it. With Thunderbird its so easy to setup.

Sounds good, but I think I may go for something like proton and adding my domains there. Mail is something basic and a small missconfig or fuck up may end up not delivering my emails or make me miss some if I happen to have some downtime.
