You can run own services server as well, nice.

I use Pop!_OS and here’s what i do:

  1. Download Linux AppImage Releases · imputnet/helium-linux · GitHub
  2. Put in ~/Applications/Helium and in the directory ln -s helium-0.7.3.1-x86_64.AppImage latest
  3. Create this file in ~/.local/share/applications/helium.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Type=Application
NoDisplay=false
Name=Helium
Exec=/home/{your home}/Applications/Helium/latest
Icon=/home/{your home}/Applications/Helium/product_logo.svg
Comment=Helium Browser
  1. Download app icon from helium/resources/branding/product_logo.svg at main · imputnet/helium · GitHub and put in:
    ~/Applications/Helium
  2. Run in terminal command line:
    update-desktop-database ~/.local/share/applications
  3. Helim icon should show up in Apps so you can pin it

Are you using this daily? If so, how is it holding up?

Yep, it’s my main browser and use it daily.

Interesting. I’ll take a look, I’m fed up with Brave’s crypto stuff tbh.

Been using Helium for a couple of days now. Pretty nice! The only thing I miss so far is being able to add a background for the new tab. Other than that, looking good. Thanks for the recommendation Greg.

Edit: forgot to mention, still using Brave on my phone. There’s an unofficial Helium Android app but didn’t feel like getting into it.

Hopefully Helium gains ground in making official apps easier to install. I still use as my daily driver, no issues here. Been migrating to latest Pop!_OS COSMIC, so far been great.
